HISTORY

Twin City Supply is a family business that began in 1907 in Duluth, MN. as Duluth Jewelers Supply Co. and later became known as the Julius Garon Co. Julius Garon Co. sold Swiss watch material, watch repair and jewelers tools in addition to American watch parts. A large portion of parts were imported from Switzerland. Harry Heifetz and his uncle Julius Garon would measure all these parts and catalog them. Swiss watch movements were traced to identify the shape and size. Three flat setting parts were pictured inside the movement which identified the numerous watches made. This was the beginning of a very successful venture that was later sold to Hammel Riglander of New York who named this system the "Quick Fit System". A few years later, Newall Mfg. Co. of Chicago purchased this system which is known world wide as the "Finger Print System".

In the late 1920's a branch office was opened in Minneapolis. The Depression hit and the Minneapolis office was closed. Harry Heifetz reopened the Minneapolis office as Twin City Watch Supply. Many parts were purchased from the Julius Garon Co. in Duluth. Hard work and long hours paid off. The business grew and Twin City expanded into optical goods, hearing aids, jewelry and at one time even sold luggage.

Harry's son Raoul began working at Twin City in 1943. He lives by his father's motto "You work for your customers, not for yourself".

In 1969 the Julius Garon Co. merged with Twin City Watch Supply Co. at their Minneapolis location. The material department inventory increased dramatically and included many "hard to find" watch parts. Twin City was known then and now as one of the premier watch parts supply companies. Many additional watch crystal and material companies were purchased including the watch material departments of the Illinois Watch Co. and the Benrus Watch Co.

June 5, 1979 we in incororporated under our current name of Twin City Supply, Inc. Times have changed dramatically, since the early beginning to today where we have nationwide toll-free fax, 800 numbers, computers, E-mail and an Internet Web-sitewith over 1500 items. We even have a facebook page! From Mom & Pop Stores, to chainstores, bench jewelers to High school students, watchmakers to hobbyists, manufacturers, big and small, we are here to help you succeed. Lois & Joel are the 4th Generation to run this successful business. Counter hours are 8 AM to 4PM Monday - Friday. Stop by to see our expanded showrooms! Phones are answered until 4:30 PM.
